All the buildings in the US Capitol Complex are now under lockdown after a mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, forcing Congress to recess during a joint session to formally count Electoral College votes. Pro-Trump protesters entered the Capitol building and engaged with riot police as Congress held a joint session to count the Electoral College votes which would clear the path to President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration later this month. One person was shot amid the melee, according to The Associated Press and NBC News. The Senate recessed its Electoral College debate on Wednesday afternoon protesters outside of the Capitol building forced a lockdown. Vice President Mike Pence was evacuated from the building.


Protesters chanted "You're on the wrong side” at police as hundreds pushed against barricades outside the Capitol in Washington, D.C.


At one point, police officers drew their guns inside the House chamber on Wednesday after a pro-Trump mob broke into the Capitol building and thousands swarmed the steps outside.
