At one point, one officer says, ‘You’re acting like a child,’ to which the girl can be heard responding, ‘I am a child!’

She’s 9 you can literally just pick her up. These are the people you’re supposed to trust to help you when you’re in actual danger. Cops should not be first responders for wellness checks, mental health checks, or even family disturbances. They don’t need more training, they need to be kept away from people.

When we say defund the police it means use the funds for mental health training and social worker resources for this exact situation. She is a CHILD in distress, in the middle of a mental health crisis. NOT A CRIMINAL. The fact that up to 6 cops attended this incident says the police are in excess of requirements. Which despatch officer thought this overkill was necessary. That’s not even coming into the subject to the inhumane treatment of a 9 year old child!
