Video of the terrifying incident shows the Magic Carpet Ride in full swing Thursday night at the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City. As nearly a dozen passengers yell for help, you can see the base of the ride start to rock.

One of the bystanders ran over and jumped on the base. Several more people quickly followed suit, leaning in and weighing it down. And my faith in humanity has been restored.

Call out to all those brave people who put their own safety at risk to help others. Am I right that the operator jumped ship instead of stopping ride? Like, where is the operator?
