Morhad Amdouni knocked over a row of bottles during the men’s marathon. The Frenchman grabbed the last bottle on the table towards the end of the race. The runners behind him were left with no water as they battled towards the end.

Amdouni is not next to the table. He’s having to bend and stretch while running at a high speed and he’s sandwiched between other runners. There’s no doubt he’s completely exhausted by the heat and humidity. And I think this was an accident.

I mean, I would love to see Piers run at an Olympic marathon in 30 degree heat and see how his coordination is going at 30 km. I mean I’ve run 10, in nothing like those conditions, and I was a hot mess by that stage.

Also, there are 4-5 stands during the olympics. Amdouni tipped over the first yellow stand. The runner’s had other chances to grab some water. In fact, there was another table of water a couple yards away which the clip doesn’t show.
