Subway Worker Suspended After Defending Herself During Armed Robbery
The woman’s name is Araceli Sotelo, and she was working at a Rockford, Illinois Subway location last weekend when a guy entered and flashed a gun at her, demanding money.
Sotelo says that she was contacted by her manager after the event, and was told she wouldn’t be working or paid until this video was completely scrubbed from the internet, which, let’s face it: is impossible. Sotelo confirmed on TikTok that she was indeed suspended from her job after the incident.
Subway’s bread may not be real (allegedly), but Sotelo sure is. I mean, the way she grabbed the gun from the robber’s hand and smacked him with it is iconic. The robber event went as far as to apologize to her. I admire her courage and I’m so glad she is safe. That took guts.

In the end, Sotelo did not get her purse and everything in it back and she’s out of a job. Her mother has set up a Go Fund Me to cover the legal fees, which I have linked in the description.
